Fishing is in the blood
Fishing Trips Ireland is a small family business based at Cahersiveen Pier in South Kerry. Daniel O’Connell runs the boat with Brendan, and you will usually meet one or both of them when you step on board.
We have worked on commercial and charter boats for more than 25 years. We have been running charter trips out of Cahersiveen since 2004. Brendan’s family have fished these waters for over 150 years, so a lot of what we know was handed down long before there was a fish finder on any boat.
That local knowledge matters out here. The sea around Valentia and the Skelligs changes with the tide, the wind and the time of year. Knowing where the fish are likely to be on a given day is what makes a good trip.

How we run our trips
Beginners welcome
Most of our guests are not expert anglers. Plenty have never held a rod before. We show you how to set up, how to drop your line and what to do when you feel a bite. That tuition is free and it comes with every trip.
Help for the keen angler
If you already fish, we will put you over the right ground and let you get on with it. We are always happy to talk tactics and share what has been working that week.
Safety first
Our boat is fully licensed by the Department of Transport and fully insured. There are lifejackets on board for everyone, and we will not go out if the weather is not right.
Small and friendly
A personal service
We are not a big operation and we like it that way. We keep our groups small so there is room to fish and time to help everyone. We know a lot of our guests by name because they come back year after year.
Families, couples, groups of friends and work outings all fish with us. We can tailor a trip to suit your group. Some people want a quiet few hours. Others want a full day chasing bigger fish.
