Driving times
By car
These times are a rough guide. The roads in Kerry are scenic but some are narrow and slow, so leave yourself plenty of time, especially in summer.
| From | Route | Time |
|---|---|---|
| Killarney | N72 to Killorglin, then the N70 through Glenbeigh | About 1 hour 15 minutes |
| Kerry Airport | Via Killorglin and the N70 | About 1 hour 15 minutes |
| Kenmare | The N70 through Sneem and Waterville | About 1 hour 30 minutes |
| Tralee | Via Killorglin and the N70 | About 1 hour 15 minutes |
| Cork | Via Killarney and Killorglin | About 2 hours 30 minutes |
| Dublin | M7 to Limerick, then the N21 and N22 to Killarney | Allow around 5 hours |
By plane
Kerry Airport at Farranfore is the closest airport. It is about an hour and 15 minutes away by car. Cork and Shannon airports are each around two and a half to three hours away. You will need a car or a taxi for the last part of the trip.
By train and bus
The nearest train station is in Killarney. Local Link buses run between Cahersiveen and Killorglin, Killarney and Tralee. Services are not very frequent, so check the Local Link Kerry timetable before you travel.
By car ferry
If you are staying on Valentia Island, the car ferry from Knightstown to Reenard Point runs from April to October. Reenard Point is only a few minutes’ drive from Cahersiveen.
